435 Clifton Street Oakland, CA 94618 Mark: (510) 915-3865 Taking BART is the socially responsible way to get here, but if you need to drive, it's easy to do so and easy to park on the street (this is, after all, Oakland, and not San Francisco). You'll find a fancier map of the neighborhood at maps.google.com. |
From San Francisco, take the Pittsburg/Bay Point train. From Contra Costa County, take the SFO/Millbrae train. In either case, get off at the Rockridge station. When you come down off the Rockridge station platform, go right (west) on Keith. Keith immediately bends to the left (with Market Hall on your left and the BART parking lot on your right), and becomes Shafter. Walk up Shafter two long blocks, turn left on Clifton, and 435 is the second house on the right.
From Marin County, cross the Richmond/San Rafael bridge and continue on 580 east as it turns south and joins up with highway 80. Move into the left lanes and take 580 east towards Oakland (don't get onto the Bay Bridge or highway 880). Follow the remaining instructions in the San Francisco paragraph.
From points south of Oakland, take 880 north. As you pass downtown Oakland on your right, stay in the right lanes so that you curve around to the right onto 980 (don't get onto highway 80). Once you're on 980, stay in the middle or left lanes so that you continue straight onto highway 24 (don't get onto highway 580). Take the Claremont Avenue exit and follow the remaining instructions in the San Francisco paragraph.
From Contra Costa county, take route 24 through the Caldecott Tunnel and get off at the College Avenue exit. Turn left (south) on College Avenue, go four long blocks, and turn right on Clifton (just before College joins Broadway). #435 is six short blocks down on the left.
